I just had to finish off this series.. I fell in love with Axel his is a Prince that every girl is looking for. He stepped in at a bad time and turned it into the best time of Jaida life. I just wanted to know why her mother and brothers would put doubt into her head about how she feel about Axel..I just love her relationship with her dad.

Wonderful Reformed Reflections on Scripture

Calvin's sermons on Job are a marvelous way into the Reformer's exegetical technique, his homiletic skills, and his theology. Clearly enunciating the Reformed perspective on God's sovereignty, and both the human necessity and need for humility in the face of unexplained suffering, Calvin cannot be beaten. Time and again he argues that we are to rely both on Scripture and even more so-- on the Triune God of Scripture when we are struggling with our faith and Christianity in the face of seemingly senseless suffering. Though not everyone will agree with Calvin's theology, here his theology meets the road and offers traveling "mercies" to those who believe, yet want and need help with their unbelief. In addition, the reproduced facsimile of the early English text is interesting to read and helps one to imagine reading it, and reflecting upon it, during the time period in which Calvin lived. Worth the effort if one wants to know Calvin and his theology.

About the Author

Eric Garland, PhD, LCSW, is the developer of Mindfulness-Oriented Recovery Enhancement (MORE), assistant director of the Trinity Institute for the Addictions, and assistant professor at the Florida State University College of Social Work. His research agenda is focused on translating findings from cognitive and affective neuroscience into interventions that effectively target transdiagnostic mechanisms underpinning stress-related conditions. He has a broad background in clinical research, with specific training and expertise in the design of randomized controlled trials of mindfulness-based interventions and biobehavioral measurement protocols. Garland has received funding from multiple sources (including the National Institutes of Health) to conduct randomized controlled trials of MORE as a treatment for alcohol dependence, prescription opioid misuse, and chronic pain. Complementing his expertise in clinical research, he is a licensed clinical social worker with over a decade of experience providing cognitive behavioral, solution-focused, and mindfulness-based therapies for people suffering from addiction, psychological distress, and chronic pain conditions. Ultimately, his life's work is grounded in the existential philosophy that people have the power to transcend and transform their limitations into opportunities for growth and well-being.

Fantastic book for beginners and intermediate players - very readable - funny and witty

The thing that struck me most about this book was that it is a really enjoyable read. Unlike regular instructional books, the author has actually made a point of making it fun. Some of his witty anecdotes had me supressing giggles on the subway. Lots of info and strategies with good simple diagrams, all packed into a book that will fit in my Hive Pocket pouch (a tight squeeze but it goes in, just) so I can keep it handy. Great Value for money too. Includes strategies for the new pillbug expansion.

This is a great introduction to a great game - I highly recommend it for a beginner or an occasional player. It is quite a short book but there are a lot of strategies in there that I had not come across before.

Excellent summaries of the major philosophical works

I have a copy of "Masterpieces of World Literature" which I have found to be a good reference (containing critical summaries of the major works of literature), and when I came across this title, I decided to get a copy for myself. I have always been interested in philosophy, yet never found the time to really delve into each individual work due to time constraints. This book suits my needs perfectly as it analyzes and summarizes about 100 major works of philosophy, beginning with The Analects of Confucius, covering the Bhagavad Gita, the Tao Te Ching, Saint Augustine's The City of God, Saint Thomas Aquinas' Summa Theologica, Niccolo Machiavelli's The Prince, Rene Descartes' Meditations on First Philosophy, Rousseau's The Social Contract,among others, and ending with John Rawls' Theory of Justice.

Each philosophical work has an essay analyzing the principal ideas advanced (at the beginning the name of the author, type of work, and the time it was first transcribed is provided), pertinent literature (analyzing these works), and also a list of recommended titles for additional reading on each philosophical work. This is a handy resource for those seeking an introduction to the major works of literature.

An essential reference tool for anyone interested in big ideas

I found a two-volume set of this book in my public library when I was 16, and I knew I had discovered something amazing. I think you will too. In these pages you will find short essays on almost all of the major thinkers the world has produced. From the earliest Greeks to the most modern Europeans and Americans--with good depth on Asian philosophers--you can get a sense of the main ideas that propelled Western thought. If you have to read Plato for high school, or need to know the difference between Locke and Hume, this is a great place to start. If you always wondered what Wittgenstein was saying, or wanted to get the gist of Spinoza or Kierkegaard in 30 minutes, start here. While I've gone on to read many of the primary sources and have encountered many schools of thought outside the Western canon, this book still serves a purpose as a refresher, a digest, or an introduction to the thinkers and ideas that still carry a lot of weight in the world.

Excellent review of books and related literature for philosophers of history and more recent contributors of the philosophic dialog. Very well written usually 2 to 4 page summaries of the philosopher's key books. A great way to review the philosophic dialog in print and especially helpful are the summary of basic ideas at the beginning of each book review. It is helpful for those as a guide for going on to read the

originals. Kind of a cliffs notes to philosophy. Very valuable.
